One of the better tracks off Gorillaz’ latest album, Plastic Beach, out a few days back. On the whole the album is a lot more whimsical and subdued than their previous releases and nowhere near as catchy at first but it does grow on you. The tracks with Damon Albarn (from Blur) on them are much better than the various other collaborations featured on the album. (including Snoop Dogg)

Other great tracks on the album are Glitter Freeze and the title track, Plastic Beach.

I’ve been listening to this Canadian duo all the time this year. They’re called MSTRKRFT and are composed of Al-P and JFK.

JFK is formerly from the group Death From Above 1979 that did the brilliant DFA Remix of the Gorillaz ‘Dare’ which is on their new album D-Sides.

Some people have rather unkindly written them off as just a low rent Daft Punk but I think they have quite a unique sound that is a mix of punk-rock, house and hip-hop. Below is their remix of another great song, Australian trio, Wolfmother’s ‘Woman’.

Look around for MSRKRFT’s live set for BBC Radio One, on the internet. Definitely worth a listen.
